Pocketing is like how Ethan tried to defend Stein (town) and stay on his good side a lot as well as agreeing with everything that Stein does. It's useful for evils because it can mean the person they pocket won't want to suspect them and if they are suspected the other person may also look guilty.

I was in a game where we narrowed down the final scum to two people with 100% certainty and had 3 mislynches left before we would lose. They lynched the wrong suspect out of the two first then inactivity lynched the confirmed day vigilante (barber) then the last two remaining towns argued who was at fault for the previous day and one town voted the other and got them lynched, losing us the solved game.
