basically julien's first affair was the soprano soloist Maria who died one day in a tragic accident whilst singing the finale of a terrible opera about bloodshed and war, and ever since has watched julien with disdain as they have affairs with other soloists bc she thought julien only loved her. anyway one day she possessed a promising soprano called martina (who was actually already married but yknow) and then reconnected with julien and this whole shitfest has been maria(tina) getting the other soloists killed to get revenge on them and make julien dependent on martina.
