Haunting is a gamemode in which you still play after dying.

Players that die, turn into ghosts ($i ghost) instead of completely dying and may no longer use their abilities. Ghosts can no longer talk in the normal channels, but can interact with other ghosts in a graveyard channel and through ccs. Ghosts have their own elections ($i ghost elections) and a lynch equivalent ($i banishment), however the banishment poll only occurs when so decreed by an elected role. When a ghost is banished (through the poll or a role's ability), they are fully eliminated and no longer participate in the game. In the Haunting gamemode, the reporter role is replaced by the gravekeeper ($id gravekeeper) and the guardian role is replaced by the prophet ($id prophet). A list of all roles exclusive to the Haunting gamemode can be found under $i haunted. Win conditions are unchanged in this mode - whatever team reaches their win condition among the living players wins.

A Haunted player may use their abilities both while alive as well as while they are a ghost. This does not affect which players they can target, so for most roles they may only target living players even while they are a ghost.

Once the Spiritualist becomes a ghost, they can whisper to a living player each night.

Each night, if they are a ghost, the Spiritualist may select a player. From the moment of selection until the end of the following day, the Spiritualist may anonymously whisper with their target. The Spiritualist may only pick each target once. Selecting a player is an immediate ability.

Every other night, the Reaper may banish one ghost, stealing their powers in the process. They may also learn the original role of one ghost.

The Reaper cannot banish on consecutive nights. If the Reaper chooses not to banish, they will once again have the option to banish in the following night. Learning the role of one ghost is also non-consecutive, but may or may not be done in the same night as the banishing. When the Reaper banishes a player (even if the banishment fails due to a defense), they gain the player's role as an extra role. If the gained role had abilities with limited uses, the Reaper regains all uses once obtained. Banishing is an end-night ability. The Reaper cannot make use of role changing or group joining abilities. Learning the role is an immediate ability and is immune to disguises and redirections. The Reaper is a member of the nightmare team and purgatory channel. The nightmare team wins when all other players are dead or unaligned. When the Reaper dies, they do not become a ghost: they are immediately banished.

The Monk will survive the first attempt to banish it during the night.

The Monk is informed of the attempt to banish them. Attempts to banish the Monk during the day will still succeed.
