APPA city. The parades. The Song. Golden Flames. Flashes of a memory. The sparks of electricity. Pulling my legs out from under the debris of the aerial survey unit, I notice those sparks came from me. I was supposed to be build tougher than this. Well, it's nothing I can't repair with some rudimentary tools. Unlike that, I can't seem to repair the memory data, despite my memory card being completely functional. Almost as if my system itself is preventing me from accessing it, though it's not giving any errors. I'll have to get that looked at later. I was supposed to be on duty with my handler alongside my other batchmates to train and correct any deviations in our algorithms. They're not here, and I can already feel the processes going sideways. I crawl around, try and get bearings on where I am. Over the edge, I see a red street, all the lights quenched, left in darkness. Why did they do that? A yellow carpet reflects the moonlight, leading to the cathedral. Right, it was the midwinter festival. An archaic tradition that people never really wanted to leave behind, I suppose it must've been important to some people. The dancers from the parade were supposed to make their way in there and finish up the festival. I opt to climb down from the building, seeing as my legs don't work yet. On my slow crawl to the cathedral, another unfortunate unit from my batch seems to have bit the dust. Hopefully she backed up her memory for a new body, as I'll need her legs for repairs. I continue walking, the large, heavy cathedral door creaking as I push to open it. Inside it's quiet and stale, as if time within the cathedral has stopped. Walk past the rows of pews, I come to a stop in front of the altar cross and look up. Ichor drips from the angel, splattering on the stairs, forming a small stream flowing down.
I need to get them back. Before I'm lost as well.A city. The parades. The Song. Golden Flames. Flashes of a memory. The sparks of electricity.
