@Tasha of Cauldron fame Ah! A summons most enticing, a challenge wrapped in mystery and merriment! Allow me to enter the fray with tale in tow and word in wondrous towage. Gather ye round, fellow loreseekers, for I present the saga of…
Thistledown Quib, the Whispergnat of Windmere
Born in the root-hollows of the Singing Alder Grove, Thistledown Quib was no larger than a hazelnut and twice as fierce. A creature not quite fae, not quite mouse, but something in between—a mursiquin, as the older texts might say, if you’re prone to squinting at glossaries printed in moonmilk ink. The mursiquin are gifted in the arts of illusion, deduction, and obscure etiquette; their handshake is a puzzle box and their smile, a linguistic conundrum.
Quib spent her early years decoding the Runic Babble of the Moorhens, a dialect so slippery it requires a damp scroll and a very forgiving eardrum to parse. She later trained under the vaporous tutelage of the Fogwise of Hollowmere, mastering the ancient discipline of zebellurgy—the almost entirely forgotten art of conjuring and controlling the zebel, a shrieking miniature storm cloud no larger than a plum.
One fateful Mumblemoon, she was visited by a dream-elk who whispered secrets into her ear—secrets about a treasure beyond coin or reason, hidden somewhere between the syllables of forgotten spells. Thus began her wanderings, leaving breadcrumbs of riddles behind her and collecting curious companions along the way: a pickpocket ghost, a singing lantern, and a frog with three doctorates in philosophy.
To this day, should you hear the quiet tinkling of a brass bell in a library when no bell is present, it is said Quib is near, turning the pages of the world itself, still in search of the final clue to the treasure that rumor dares not name.

My strange word: zebellurgy. A nonsense craft, perhaps… or a forgotten science. Who can say?
Your move, brave souls!
