Day 0 | Cambrian Explosion! Welcome to 530 million years ago! You’re all lucky to have been brought to life by forces as of yet unaffected by things like “natural selection” and “anatomy that makes sense”. All life right now exists solely in the oceans, except potentially some algae. Did you know that the vast majority of organisms at this time actually ended up becoming extinct, and only a small fraction evolved into species that we recognise today? I wonder which of you will flourish and survive, and which will only be remembered by fossils. Except me, I’m both. I’ll never die. @Participant

Mid-Day 0 | Random Predation Event The predators of the ocean decided that Coelacanths are suddenly on the menu and gobbled up every last individual. With a new niche opening up in the food web, the @Mastodon has emerged. TL;DR: The player with the nickname Coelacanth has left the server and as such been substituted by @Mastodon. @Participant

Night 1 | Ordovician Ah, the Ordovician, also known as the Cambrian's overshadowed sequel. During this period we saw the evolution of the first filter feeding organisms and an unprecedented increase in biodiversity to levels similar to those found today! But because it didn't happen first it gets forgotten. Just like the host ping whenever people make their actions. @Participant

Day 1 | Ordovician-Silurian Mass Extinction 440 million years ago, plants decided to kill 60-80% of marine life. Because they removed too many greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, everything got a little too cold and the oceans froze. @Pterodactyl thought he would be safe flying above everything, but the cold winds froze his wings and so like Icarus he fell from the skies. Tragic. Luckily, the rest of you all survived! And now you need to pick one creature to evolve and dominate this new environment, and one who is just not cut out to handle it. TL;DR: @Pterodactyl (Phantom) died. Elect a @Mayor (>15) and choose a lynch candidate. @Participant

Night 2 | Devonian and Carboniferous The Devonian is also known as the “Age of the Fish” because during that time we saw the evolution of, you guessed it...trees. Its end was marked by the Devonian mass extinction, which caused about 75% of life to die off. Including @Saber Toothed Tiger. Sad. After this, during the Carboniferous we saw organisms evolve to better survive on land and the evolution of the first reptiles. Despite this, everyone decided that swimming is still pretty cool, so they gave @Mosasaur the title of best evolved creature. TL;DR: @Saber Toothed Tiger (Swurtle) was lynched. @Mosasaur (Mat) is @Mayor (>15). @Participant

Mid-Night 2 | Yet Another Unfortunate Event @Mastodon decided to return to the oceans but remembered that he couldn't swim and sank. Whoopsies. Thankfully, like a modern miracle @Jay parted the tides and rose to replace him. Yes, @Jay has existed for 400 million years, and will probably outlive us all. TL;DR: @Jay has subbed in for @Mastodon. @Participant

Day 2 | Permian Mass Extinction During the Permian we saw the formation of Pangea, where reptiles dominated the landscape and the first conifers emerged! Then 252 million years ago a cataclysm known as “The Great Dying” happened and everyone died. Well, not everyone, but definitely @Allosaurus , @Megalodon , @Hallucigenia and @Weigeltisaurus. We don’t really know why it happened, but theories range from everything getting fucked by volcanoes to a lack of oxygen in the oceans. Now is the time to decide who makes it into the 5% of creatures that survived the mass extinction, and who will be dying swiftly and greatly. We also need someone to write down a list of everyone who’s gone extinct, because it’s getting really hard to keep track. You guys can sort that out amongst yourselves, right? TL;DR: @Allosaurus (Alex), @Megalodon (Fish), @Hallucigenia (Huck) and @Weigeltisaurus (Wreno) died. Choose 2 lynch candidates and elect a @Reporter . @Participant

@Participant Thanks for waiting, I had to figure out a bunch of stuff and wait for responses. We'll be lynching @Jay and @Spinosaurus . Sniper's claim doesn't check out, given the information I've collected. Jay is a journalist who can help me confirm an additional role for town lead. For reporter we'll be electing @Wiwaxia because his role checks out. Once we get the reporter results, a town trusted can hopefully be established. Fun! Dinosaurs are made up by the shadow goverment! Night 3 | Triassic Following the Permian mass extinction was the Triassic, where we saw the beginnings of the breakup of Pangea into the supercontinents Laurasia and Gondwana, and the opening of the Tethys ocean between them. @Jay, deciding that they wanted to return to the oceans, immediately took the opportunity to jump in and swim away. The dominant species on land were amphibians, mammal-like reptiles known as therapsids and…dinosaurs! Modern-day reptiles, such as crocodilians, turtles and lizards also evolved during this time. Because of this, there was a lot of infighting between the factions and @Spinosaurus was maimed to death in the midst of it. @Wiwaxia, being a mollusc of unknown classification, was impartial towards this conflict and as such was given the role of record keeper for all the extinctions. TL;DR: @Jay (Jay) and @Spinosaurus (Sniper) were lynched. @Wiwaxia is @Reporter. @Participant

Day 3 | Triassic-Jurassic Extinction Event The end of the Triassic is marked by an extinction event that caused the loss of many amphibians and reptiles, as well as an entire class of eel-like marine creatures called conodonts. Mammals, pterosaurs, crocodiles and dinosaurs were largely untouched. As were all of you lot…interesting. There are multiple theories for why the event happened but the most widely accepted one is as a consequence of massive volcanic eruptions that covered up to 6 million square kilometres of land. Ah, well, we can’t have an extinction event with no extinctions so, uh…pick someone to chuck into some of that lava for me, will you? TL;DR: No one died. Choose a lynch candidate and elect a @Guardian. @Participant

Night 4 | Jurassic The Jurassic had an unusually warm and greenhouse climate, probably owing to all the lava that we kicked @Saurolophus into. Laurasia and Gondwana also began to break up into modern-day continents. We saw the first birds, flowering plants and crabs, as well as the diversification of mammals. Because the mammals were very cute, @Nick was entrusted with protecting them from predators. TL;DR: @Saurolophus (Sarvak) was lynched. @Nick (Nick) is @Guardian. @Participant

Day 4 | End-Jurassic Extinction The End-Jurassic extinction was a fairly minor extinction event in comparison to the ones we have seen thus far. Its cause is usually attributed to a major sea level fall and a global cooling. However, there is some debate as to whether the extinction even happened, and some instead label it as a “complex faunal turnover”, or an extended change in the biodiversity as opposed to a sudden one. Well, no debates here, because @Mosasaur and @Glyptodon were found shrivelled up inside comically large ice blocks. Now we need someone to replace @Mosasaur...and I think we should continue the turnover train with another extinction for good measure. Any takers? TL;DR: @Mosasaur (Mat) and @Glyptodon (Ghost) died. Choose a lynch and a @Mayor (<=15). @Participant

Night 5 | Early Cretaceous The Early Cretaceous lasted around 45 million years and saw a very sudden explosion of flowering plants (though it is theorised that they emerged in the Jurassic, they were uncommon then and evolved very quickly during the Cretaceous). Perfect for us to lay on the frosty grave of @Sinraptor. We also saw the first evidence of insect pollination! What fun. On a perhaps more culturally relevant note, many classic dinosaurs like Triceratops, Iguanodon, @TyrannoSaurus and Ankylosaurus dominated the environment. And yet everyone still had a soft spot for the weird amorphous spiky Cambrian mollusc @Wiwaxia, so they decided he was the best prehistoric creature after all. TL;DR: @Sinraptor (Sin) was lynched. @Wiwaxia (Wyatt) is @Mayor (<=15). @Participant (edited)

Day 5 | Late Cretaceous During the Late Cretaceous, we saw the beginnings of the formation of the Alps that would continue into the modern day. Unfortunately @Archaeopteryx and @Liaoceratops got stuck at the top as the mountains were growing and couldn't get back down again. We also saw the formation of the Cretaceous Interior Seaway, or a very very long shallow sea that divided North America in two parts for a bit. Um...but that's all a bit dull, isn't it? Let's spice it up with even more death! TL;DR: [Arch] and [Luna] died. Choose a lynch candidate.

Game End | The K-Pg Mass Extinction Also known as the dinosaur extinction, this extinction was primarily triggered by the impact of @The Meteor which left a crater 200km in diameter. The impact caused a global freezing and a 40% decrease in light levels for the next decade. The extinction wiped out most reptiles, including @Turtle, @Nick,@Kryptops and @Shanag. Small rodents and aquatic reptiles were able to survive the extinction. The event also coincides with the eruption of a very large volcanic province found in modern-day India, so it is theorised that this also contributed to the extinction. However, recent studies have shown that the eruptions may actually have helped to recover from the meteor impact. The surviving creatures would go on to contend with multiple ice ages, as well as the evolution of the worst creatures - Werewolves GMs. Their fate remains uncertain. But for now, let's give it up for our winners this game! Werewolves win! @Participant @Dead Participant
