Day 0 | Season 1 This day isn't the celebration of the creation of the first Werewolves server. The first 2.5 seasons were hosted on the old server, Werewolves, which was made at the end of 2017 by Randium. The original ruleset wasn't very defined and the available roles were extremely limited. There were 14 roles in total and all of those roles are, may it be slightly edited, still in play today. Because there was a limited amount of solos, it wasn't uncommon to see duplicates. White Werewolf was used 10 times in 9 games. Games were a lot bigger back then. Besides the first game, all games in s1 had over 30 players, the biggest game reaching 55 players! By far the funniest game that season was S1G6C. This game, with 40 players, go so boring that the Hosts gave up on hosting if for 3 weeks. It was then ended. None of the Game Masters from back in the day are still Game Masters today, although one of them (VoidMist) was still semi-actively playing until Season 10. @Participant

Night 1 | Season 2 Season 2 is the dark ages in the WWR History, most information on these games has been lost, leaving only gamelog reconstructions for most of them. This season marked the introduction of the first werewolves bots, among them @Zhanir (after which our current bot is named!) as well as the proper season system (prior to Season 2, Season 1 was not considered as such). Throughout both Season 1 and Season 2 the available roles were gradually extended in the Detailed Book of Instructions Rule Book which became the basis of the WWR Rule Book. Games in season 2 were already pretty similar to what they are now, though one particularly insane game was OS2B which ended in a victory after a single phase - almost everyone was cupid in that game. This was also the season during which @Sanzio da Urbino hosted her first game, making her the person who became GM the longest time ago who is still active on this server currently. @Participant

Day 1 | SVIP Happy 5th anniversary to the server! However much we wanna talk about everything concerning the creation of this server, we'll save that for the night phase! Today's season is SVIP! What's that stand for? Season Very Important People. It was the old server's version of Werewolves VIP, an exclusive server where only people who the hosts deemed to have "skill and strategy" got invited. It wasn't always correct... Vyryn, a GM in the early WWR seasons, created the server to try and host more skill-dependent games. He didn't like how the meta evolved, I assume. So in September 2018, he made a new server and invited everyone he deemed worthy. VIP had strict rules back in the day. Not joining a VIP game without a 'valid' reason got you a strike. Three strikes and you're kicked from the server, permanently. Being invited to a VIP server didn't always require skill. The games had about 10-14 players, with a weird low of a 6-player game occurring. By far the weirdest game on SVIP, and coming back to the skill requirement being questioned, was SVIP9A. That's because it was the only VIP game recorded that had a cheater. One of the players used spectators to confirm a player's role. This was however only confirmed when the VIP server was deleted. Notable about the Hosts was that some people had to do an actual interview through a discord call. Both were unaware that the interview could be done via text too. Having a full on interview to become GM is not necessary, we review applicants by activity and knowledge of the game without an interview. Now for this game's announcements: @Late Arrival is the first one to die this game. There will be a lynch and a @Mayor (>15) election today! @Participant

Night 2 | Season 3 This is the most dramatic and defining season in the whole of Werewolves and Werewolves Revamped history. Season 3 started out as any other previous season. There had been some rulebook changing and new roles. A considerable amount of the current GM team became active players in this season. The first four games were hosted on the old server. That server, sometimes referred to as the Red server, was going strong until the owner, Randium, became inactive. This left the entire GM team on the old server to take care of the games, the ranking and the roles. So when the server creator came back and saw things were different (and probably saw some GMs complaining too), he decided to ban most of the GM team. This left the red server without their bot, most of the GMs, the rulebook and most of their playerbase. And so, the old GM team created this server, called Werewolves Revamped. They immediately started hosting a game, the famous OS3A, then referred to as S0G0. A new start in which Ts and marhjo, the most active GMs at the time, hosted the most chaotic game to date. The game contained no townsfolk team and instead featured all solo teams, some with variants, and a big wolf team. The game has 47 players and lasted 27 phases (2 weeks). At some point it got so chaotic that the dead participants helped the hosts with the gamelog. After the new server, things looked great for Werewolves Revamped and its community. There was a spike in activity which was also thanks to our sister server Mini Wolves Revamped (more about that in the next phase). The season saw some great additions, such as a full new category: Unaligned. It also saw the promotion of our current Event Hosts, Ts and I, and funnily enough also the promotion of Arch to GM. He was demoted a few seasons later and welcomed back into the GM team again last season. Season 3 was also the first season to see some special types of games. With the creation of Mini Wolves, we had 2 servers with working bots, allowing for the first double game. For this game, players were divided into 2 groups, each playing on a different server. Both servers had the exact same role list, however. S3G5 thus has an a and a b version. And the last game of the season, called Double Trouble, saw the first use of double roles, an invention from Mini Wolves Revamped. Now for this day's poll results: @Admiral Luffy became the @Mayor (>15) @Participant (edited)

Day 2 | Mini Wolves Revamped We sadly enough just missed this sever's anniversary. That's right. Before this server was created, Mini Wolves Revamped already existed. Ever noticed how @Zhanir is called Werewolves Bot B? That's because Ts made another version of the bot first, "Werewolves Bot A" on Mini Wolves Revamped. It was created on April 21st, 2019. Mini Wolves is and always has been meant as a server to the test the bot. Through hosting games, it was easier to test how new features and roles worked. Lots of new features actually originate from the Mini Wolves server. New roles got added and accepted into the ruleset, such as Journalist and Chef. Mini Wolves has by far seen the most hosted games. At some point we tried to count and log the games and came to the conclusion that Mini Wolves has had over 500 games. It has a seperate leaderboard with leveling system. There was even a new game concept that this server hasn't seen yet: Generated roles. The roles are composed of different abilities, some negative and some positive, and have different strengths depending on those abilities. Different strengths can also be generated. All possible teams can exist and it's rare to generate the same role. For example, you could generate a Horseman-type role that applies all different Horseman abilities on doom. Or a Townsfolk role that has the abilities of a Runner and a Hooker, but it has 2 votes against it by default on the lynch poll. The roles have different names to add some uniqueness too. You could have a Horseman-type roles that's called Magical Unicorn of Rainbows or the same type of role called a Cynical Donkey of Misery. The GM team on Mini Wolves wasn't as official as this server. Mini Wolves accepted just about anyone who would want to host a game once. The more the merrier. But even the GMs were sometimes surprised by the insane amount of GMs on the server. And here are the results from the night phase: @Sanzio da Urbino died @Participant

Night 3 | Season 4 Back to the main server, it's time for Season 4. With this season the amount of significant events slows down a bit as WWR finishes its first year of existence. This is the season during which Vera and Jay joined the Admin Team for the first time. Four years and seven season later, the admin team is still us (though with some breaks in-between). Early in this season the Werewolves Bot also reaches the state it would mostly be in for this era of WWR (until around the start of Season 8). Similarly, the Rule Book hits version v9, also called the Flattening, in which many fundamental concepts are generalized/introduced (disguises, role categories, lycan-ness and other generalizations of ability types). This version of the Rule Book became the foundation for quite a few seasons of rule books. This season also sets a new standard for amount of games per season, having more games than all previous seasons had. For the first a solo team besides the white wolves becomes the most used solo of a main season: Hell Team. And not only was this season a success for Hell Team in terms of quantity, but also in quality: S4G1B had the first Hell Team win (though, technically it was Heaven Team, an alternative version of Hell Team with the same mechanics, in that game). And here are the new for the actual game:
  • @Curtis Baker is lynched
  • @Neo Noah the Angel ascends, killing @The Newcomer

Day 3 | VIP Wolves Revamped Season 1 Werewolves Revamped was such a success that we decided to re-open a VIP server. This new server served about the same purpose as the old VIP server, but done completely in WWR style. The plan was to invite GMs and strategically good players. While the admin team stayed the same throughout all servers and so also this new VIP server, the GM team would have some slight differences. And so, on January 20th 2020, the new VIP server was created and we gained another bot: Werewolves Bot C. The first game opened on the creation date, just after everyone was invited. So when people joined, they'd be able to sign up immediately. The first game was probably one of the better games on VIP. It was a themed game and people were roleplaying throughout the game. The ending was pretty exciting as two different alignments had basically the same chances in the last night. Eventually, wolves won the game. Town didn't go down without a fight, although a bit too dramatic. During the game, one of the participants actually controlled some of the webhooks, creating NPC's on his own. Nobody knew it was Bart who controlled the NPC's until the end of the game. VIP Season 1 had 5 games in total. After it last game, it hit a small period of inactivity and we decided that that would end the season. The next game, whenever it would be hosted, would start a Season 2 of VIP. Now this game isn't so VIP but we're hitting player numbers that could be a VIP game: • @Phantom the Nurse has died • @Sarvuk2's Fudge Bees also died @Participant

Night 4 | Season 5 After season 4, WWR entered a phase in which the games were quite steady. The rulebook stayed pretty similar throughout season 5. Some new versions , V10 and V10.1, were published but there were not a lot of changes. Season 5 did have its own first: the first werewolves win with a 100% wolf survival rate. The first game of the season saw that achievement. The game was solved so fast that it was fast-forwarded after only 4 phases. The wolf team was made up of Ts, Leilaboo, Turtle, Meuh and Dennis. The most beloved solo of season 5 was pyro, with about a quarter of the games containing Pyro that season. For this game's fun f,acts: @Swurt the Legendary was lynched and @Ome Tehiseha becomes @Reporter @Participant

Day 4 | VIP Wolves Revamped Season 2 The GMs at VIP Wolves Revamped decided that we would change seasons whenever we change seasons on the main server. So when Jay, Marten and I decided to revive the VIP server with a sudden announcement mid-season 5, we started a new season on VIP: Season 2. Ending Season 1 with 5 games set the game count for every following VIP season: 5 games. Offseason games, like on the main server, were not counted in this game total. Not like Season 2 had any offseason games. One of the best games of Season 2 was again full of roleplay: V2G4, Party at the End of the World. It was a space apocalypse theme with a plague theme. The storytimes and theming were also based on a Doctor Who episode, similarly named "The End of the World". The game, however, was fast-forwarded after Day 3. Besides V2G3, all VIP Season 2 games were co-hosted by me. I did win V2G3. I was wolf together with kruthers and LoG. Fun fact: wolves have never lost whenever kruthers and I were in the wolf team together! Now this is what happened this night: @Ome Tehiseha died @Participant

Night 5 | Season 6 Another classic season of WWR! Like season 5, there isn't all too much to remark on. But what there is to remark on, is pretty good. Season 6 saw the introduction of a new kind of wolf: a fox. Which is not a wolf, but a fox. Close enough, right? Clairvoyant Fox was the first of the foxes to be added. Foxes are now pretty much a staple kind of role to WWR. Season 6 also saw a return of a terrible role and a start to a series of special games: Thief's Hell. Seeing the success of OS3A, we decided to bring back Thief and host one of the most chaotic games. No Townsfolk, just Wolves, Solo and Unaligned. The season also saw its first Draw in S6G5, a results that has never before been recorded. Now for this game's results: @Geoff Geoffards was lynched and @Admiral Luffy became the new @Reporter @Participant (edited)

Day 5 | Season 7 Season 7 had more fun additions. We added Hags and Amnesiac (Which I think came from Mini Wolves, but I couldn't find it quickly). This was also the season in which we introduced a punishment for being inactive in public channels only. This to avoid people only talking in CCs and leaving roles that don't commonly get confirmed in the dark. Public inactivity is still a thing and can impact your ratings. It's also much more fun to have open conversations in public channels! In season 7, Ts and I started the tedious work of trying to restore all previous gamelogs. The red server was not yet deleted, so we decided to ask the owner of the server if we can access the gamelogs and gm channels so we'd have it easier. This prompted the owner of the server to delete the server instead... We eventually recorded as much info we could on all games, even if it was just who died and who didn't die. And then Arch showed us in the Ghost channel for this game that there were some games reset that we didn't even know of... Season 7 saw the first instance of a full on event, Magical Plague hosted by Ts. The game and especially the event was a huge success. After the game ended, the participants still had a bit more time to solve the event. We gathered in VC and took a few hours to figure it out. And so, Suso and I were the first the receive @S7 Event Winner. Later, during the Thief's Hell of this season, more people would also receive this role. Now tonight, a few more people than usual have met their demise: @Lucy, @Snail Martian, @Elf. and @Shakira all died this night But at least a @Guardian can be elected today!

Night 6 | VIP Wolves Revamped Season 3 Ah... Season 3 of VIP Wolves Revamped. One of the most memorable VIP seasons to date. Probably because it was one of the most regrettable in multiple sense. Let's start with the bad game: OV3A. A game that went so bad that it was reset before it was logged or archived. Can't blame the host, though. He had already said that the game would be unbalanced from the start. It was the first offseason VIP for a reason. After that disaster, VIP went silent for a bit, until someone decided to put the next game theme up to a poll... A supermoon themed game. Supermoon was an old werewolves player who only ever spoke in emojis. He wasn't invited to Vyryn's VIP server because he never actually talked normally. It was always emojis. So when V3G2 was voted to be an emoji-only game, there was nothing good to be expected from it. It was complete and utter chaos. The bot commands were set to be emoji-only, storytimes were emoji-only and talking normally was not allowed anywhere besides you own secret channel. Some players didn't know how to communicate. I, however, should communicate what happened today. @Dadlaz got lynched and @Fairylexed Godmato became the @Guardian @Participant

Day 6 | Season 8 With Season 8, we started introducing lots of new changes (some of which started towards the end of S7 already), ringing in a new era of WWR, which is still ongoing today. One of the most noteworthy additions are the role icons that were introduced at the start of this season, along with them also came a new look for WWR as a whole: We started using new bot/server icons (the ones that are still in use now!) and the info command got a whole new look to make use of the icons. We also started using the fancy role lists with the icons that you may have seen in some games. The season is not just noteworthy for being the start of the modern WWR era, but it also is the season with the most games we've had in one season (16). This is also the season in which we setup the werewolves.me website. The most notable game of this season is S8G8, the Tourney of Mystery, a loose sequel to S7G7. This game is probably the most complex game we've ran so far, with >100 hours of time spent on hosting. Just like it's predecessor this game was also a mystery game, though a far bigger and more complex one than the previous one. Also, after not making it for three seasons, Hell Team is also back as the most beloved solo of the season. I should probably also tell you what happened in this game, which is, apparently: Nothing @Participant

Night 7 | Season 9 Season 9 continues the trends of Season 8, and develops some of the new additions further. This is also the season WWRess was added in. The White Wolves team is also finally back as the most beloved solo team of the season - after last being it back in Season 3. At the start of this season we also finally added all the older seasons into our rating systems, adding a total of 35 games that had not been rated previously. Besides this not much worth mentioning happened. The most notable game of this season was OS9E Regret Redux. This is the third game in a series of games (S1G6C, OS8A, OS9E) in which players were able to submit three roles and would then get one of them. It... didn't go so well. Season 9 also had one of the lowest win rates for the townsfolk, with just 4 out of 15 games being won by them, which is around as bad as the current season has been for townsfolk. However thanks to this game the rate of the current season has been improved, as the Townsfolk Win this game! The last death of this game was: @Fred Fischer. Or... was it? It seems something has gone wrong for the game has not ended yet!

Day 7 | Season 10 Almost exactly a year ago, Season 10 started and with it came a 6 changes in the GM Team. We also started the season off with a removal of more than 15 roles, cleaning up the role book quite a bit. This is also the season that introduced player tokens. One of the most notable things about the season was S10SP, the WWR Event Week. In this week, we held concurrent MWR, WWRdle, WWRess and Trivia events for an entire week, to celebrate the end of our 10th season. This season also had the second biggest game on the new server to date: S10G6 with 35 players (though we had split games with more players). Besides that, the most notable game of this season is probably OS10C, Wolves of Glarthford, which contained 11 unique events: Pawnford (Day 0), Bat WWRess (Night 1), Riddle (Day 1), Battle Trading Game (Night 2), Prisoner's Dilemma (Day 2), Fire (Night 3), Polluted WWRdle (Day 3), Ghast WWRess (Night 4), Map Puzzle (Day 4), Zombie WWRess (Night 5), End Disease Finale (Day 5), with especially the last event being particularly noteworthy. In game related news: The outcome of the game has not changed, however @Admiral Luffy has died, so we will be electing a new Mayor. @Participant

Night 8 | Season 11 This is the current season, Season 11. The most notable game of this season is probably OS11C - Investigation at Innsmouth which was the previous game! This is also probably the only season in which all players of this have played (for obvious reasons). A notable change in this season is the v17 update of the Rule Book which adds formalized descriptions of all role descriptions, though this is something most players will not interact with. A notable role additions this season is the Howling Wolf which has already been used a few times. This season also marks the 5th Anniversary of Werewolves Revamped which we are celebrating with this game! Back to this game, @Purple Emotes | Alpha died and @Fairylexed Godmato got elected as mayor. @Participant

Day 8 | Admin Now last but not least it's time to talk about the most important season part of WWR of all: The Admin team. I'm certainly not biased or anything. While the Admin Team has seen plenty of changes, most of that is the same people leaving and rejoining, so overall there actually hasn't been much variety. The original admin team from the start of this server was me, marhjo and ubq. marhjo and me were the founders of the server and ubq the original bot dev for the old bot Zhanir. ubq left the server a long time ago and got replaced on the admin team by vera. A bit after that, I left the admin team and got replaced by jay. The last to leave the admin team of the original three was marhjo, though that's a fairly long story that also involves another pseudo-admin. Eventually I also rejoined the admin team, leading to the current admin team. Overall there have not been any completely new admins since 2020! Back to this game, @Fairylexed Godmato got killed in his sleep by @Right. Hon. Katy. With just one player remaining alive you may think the game is over. And you would be right, after all it ended a few phases ago. But somehow it's still going anyway. How strange. @Participant
