@TheScallion The cerberus has sent you an offer of protection. You can look up the full description of the Cerberus using $info cerberus, but basically its one of the 2 members of the hell team. They offer mutually beneficial deals. In this case you can choose to protect yourself, but doing so will sell your soul. Having lost your soul doesn't cause you any issues, but you won't be able to make deals with hell team again afterwards. For Hell team, getting everyone's soul is their goal (and additionally they can use souls to protect themselves / attack others), so taking an offer like this from the hell team is something that should be considered carefully.

but is it that everyone could just say protect to the offer so the hell team wont get any souls and with that cant winn?

they could to that, and people often turn it down, but in many cases it's just better to go for it than to not go for it. The Hell team's goal is to be smart when choosing their targets and select somebody that is likely to accept it. For example if we're a couple of days into a game, and town appears to be losing, hell may try to exclusively target town - and they will probably accept the offer to even the odds
