First Evening Class Good evening class! Our first class is about the first principle of animation: Squash and Stretch. It's a simple one to start out with. To add depth to an animation, objects squash when they hit something and stretch when they fly away. Take this ball for example: Once it hits the ground, it squashes and spreads out, and once it goes back up it stretches back. It's a simple principle to understand, once we go up in the principles get more 'abstract'. This was the lesson for today. The First Morning Class is on 24-Jan-23 11:00 AM @Participant

First Morning Class A good morning to all! Today we will be learning about the next principle of animation: Anticipation! It's another simple one, be it a bit more abstract and up to the animator. Anticipation shows how and object is waiting or preparing for something. That could be a character taking a breath before performing and action or it could be a ball slowly rolling off the table, waiting for the right comedic timing to fall down. In my example I simple drew a mouth, anticipating a delicious meal. Before we end this class, I will need to take note of absences. @Secondary Action has let us known that he will not be joining our next classes. This news upset @Anticipation, his lover, so much that he also left. Further, @Solid Action has decided to also quit the class to continue his Ranger studies. He was kind enough to leave me an e-mail saying Sharl Eclair is a Huntress. Today we will be having a small art contest. The winner will get a prize and the loser will be sent out of class. Our lessons will continue on 24-Jan-23 11:00 PM @Participant

Second Evening Class Good evening everyone! Welcome to the second evening class. Today's subject will be another principle of animation: Staging. This is all about how a scene is made. Where are the lights, what does the environment look like? In my example, it's pretty simple, it's a person standing on a stage. Now for the results of the art contest: @Stretch was chosen to be the @Art Contest Winner (>15) and @Follow Through was voted last place. (I must say, pretty ironic, considering he actually makes good art) This is all for today, I'll see everyone else tomorrow morning on 25-Jan-23 12:00 PM. Have a great night and don't forget to try and draw some more today! Every little drawing helps to improve your skills! @Participant (edited)

Second Morning Class Good morning class! I see we're missing @Appeal today, sad to hear he dropped out. Today I will explain the next principle of animation. It's actually two in one, but because they're so similar they're counted as one. It's Straight-Ahead-Action and Pose to Pose. Straight ahead animating means that the animation is drawn frame to frame, all the way through the shot. In my example it's on the left. Every single frame is drawn right after the frame before. On the right is an example of Pose to Pose. With Pose to Pose, only the keyframes are drawn at first and later on the intervals are drawn. Being an interval artist is an actual job, by the way. Amazing, isn't it? On 25-Jan-23 10:00 PM we will be having the next class. Don't forget about today's Art Contest! We'll be comparing today's art to yesterday's art and choosing a @Most Improved Artist! This time around I will be putting the polls in the right order @Participant

Incoming e-mail from: TheArtTeacher@email.com to: @Participant subject: Are my lessons boring? Dear Class, Today I got the notice that @Arcs would be leaving our class. @Stretch followed suit, saying he would rather pursue his career as Huntress and with that, he took @Ease In with him. Are my lessons so boring and is that why people keep leaving? I would really like your feedback on this! Please let me know! The Art Teacher (edited)

Third Evening Class Today we will be talking about the 5th principle of animation: Follow Through and Overlapping Actions. Once again a simple one. Follow through means that an action will not be completely halted after it has happened, e.g. hair still flowing in the wind after a jump. Overlapping actions simple means there's multiple actions happening at once. In my example, the person gets pushed back, their hair still flows and they take a breath after landing. And now a different subject: It has come to my attention that @Staging has been using AI to make their artwork. This is cheating and art theft and we were forced to remove them from our class. Our next class is an early one, on 26-Jan-23 07:30 AM Hope to see you all then! @Participant

Third Morning Class Good morning class! Or, what ever is left of class. Welcome either way. Today's animation principle is Ease in, Ease out. To make movement looks realistc, there's a certain way they're done. They're not a consistent action, the action happens slowly, goes a little faster and comes to a slow halt again. In my example, the ball on a string has more frames when the animation starts ad ends and less frames in the middle, making the animation look a little more realistic, Wait, wait! Hey! @Key Frame why are you leaving class? Come back! This isn't helping my self-confidence as a teacher... I guess this is it for today, next class will be on 26-Jan-23 10:00 PM! I really, really hope to see you all again! @Participant

Fourth Evening Class Class. Today's subject is Arcs. It's putting arcs in your animation. Makes it seem fluent. In this example someone is sort of... stretching their shoulder. When the arms goes over the shoulder, it goes in a fluent arc. Isn't that neat... No, you don't have to ask if you wanna go to the bathroom, @Overlapping Actions. Why are you taking your bag AND your coat? You're leaving? sigh And now on to the art contest! @Rigging won the contest this time around! I'll see everyone in the morning class. Please, please, please be there. @Participant

Fourth Morning Class Secondary Actions, the principle we will be focussing on today, is pretty self-explanatory. It's when a character or object does multiple actions at the same time. In my example, the character is talking and moving their hand at the same time. The difference between this and an overlapping action is that these actions are seperate and the secondary actions doesn't take away from the first action. The character talking doesn't distract too much from the hand movement. This principle is used to give more character and realism to a scene. Why didn't i greet the class? There's not much in greeting only 5 people. @Frame to Frame, @Ease Out and @Straight Ahead Action all left the course. That means its time to see which out of those 5 is @Most Improved Artist! @Participant Bot currently isn't responding, I already pinged Ts for it
