WɹW 28-May-21 04:20 PM
Ok cool
Town first...
Town 15 - Citizen x2 - Town Crier x2 - Runner x2 - Huntress x2 - Fortune Apprentice x1 - Macho x1 - Huntsman x1 - Oracle x1 - Assassin x1 - Cult Leader x1 - Cult Member x1
Ok well most of those are pretty easy
Citizen is just vanilla townie, probably be a few claims of it.
Town Crier I think gets the name & role of another townie, so anyone who is one of those has a safe person to cc and claim to as a place to start
Runner seems like a default scum claim a lot of the time, kinda leave me alone sort of claim
Investigative roles are Huntsman & Oracle, backed up by the apprentice (takes one of their roles when they die). They're high value targets so want to be careful who they claim to etc
Neither one is effected by disguises I think

Werewolves Bot B BOT 28-May-21 04:24 PM
Huntsman | Townsfolk Investigative Basics Each night, the Huntsman may check a target to determine if they are “part of the wolf pack” or not. Details The Huntsman cannot see a player’s role, but they can check whether a player is in the wolfpack. The Huntsman’s inspection is an immediate ability. Since the Huntsman does not check the role itself, they are not affected by any disguises.
Oracle | Townsfolk Investigative Basics Every night, the Oracle can select two players and see if they have the same current alignment as each other. Each player can only be checked once. Details Each night, the Oracle can inspect two players. The Oracle will be told whether they have the same current alignment or not. This result is not affected by disguises. The Oracle can select itself as one of the two players, but can only select each player once throughout the game. Inspecting players is an immediate ability. Unaligned roles (if they are still unaligned) have the same alignment as each other, solo roles on opposing teams do not. Some role's current alignments may be different than their role's starting alignment (e.g. Cupid, Cupid's Lover).

WɹW 28-May-21 04:24 PM
(that second is basically a parity cop where the first one is kinda a cop)
Assassin gets 3 kills iirc, and then cult leader kills too, so they're the main town killing roles. Huntress can kill too ofc, all of them want to find trusted town so they know who to target
And then Macho, that gets told who attacked it and then doesn't die until the next day, it may try to bait a kill by claiming something else like Ti I guess
I guess trusted town will probably build around the cult, and/or the 2 Town Crier + person they know is town pairings
They will prob find it easiest to verify themselves when needed, though a pair of scummies could try to pretend to be any of those groupings
Avatar
ʎɹɹɐH ʎɹǝʇsɐuoW 28-May-21 04:32 PM
I expect a lot of citizen claims.
Avatar
WɹW 28-May-21 04:33 PM
On the evidence of previous games, wolves will mostly claim citizen, runner and maybe huntress
Several stronger town roles probably will too early on
Avatar
ʎɹɹɐH ʎɹǝʇsɐuoW 28-May-21 04:34 PM
Well, Dora claimed citizen last time, and she was wolf.
Avatar
WɹW 28-May-21 04:34 PM
Yeah. And I did when I was demon
Although I wasn't happy about it really lol
Wolves 10 - Wolf x4 - Hellhound x2 - Alpha Wolf x1 - Clairvoyant Fox x1 - Lone Wolf x1 - Wolf's Cub x1 Solo 3 - White Werewolf x1 - Vampire x2 Unaligned 2 - Chef x1 - Cupid x1
So the interesting one in that list is White Werewolf, although Vampire is just unpleasant

Wolf | Werewolf Miscellaneous Basics The Wolf has no special abilities. Details The Wolf is a player who acts like a regular player during the day, but secretly kills players during the night, together with all the other werewolves.
White Werewolf | Solo Killing Basics The White Werewolf is a werewolf who is not satisfied with merely killing the townsfolk; they must kill all the werewolves as well. On even numbered nights, the White Werewolf may attack a member of the wolfpack. Details To the werewolves, the White Werewolf will appear to be a regular wolf. However, it is the White Werewolf’s goal to win the game completely alone; even the other werewolves must die. Attacking a member of the wolfpack is an end-night ability. If only werewolves and the White Werewolf are left alive, the game will continue until either all werewolves are dead or the White Werewolf is dead. The White Werewolf is strongly disguised as a regular wolf. If the White Werewolf changes role, the disguise is lost. The White Werewolf is considered a lycan.
Avatar
WɹW 28-May-21 04:38 PM
So, Lone Wolf can prove itself by killing and joining the pack later, and alpha wolf gets extra votes in wolf chat so can prove itself by that
Cub wants to get killed to get wolves two kills, and hellhounds are basically scum bakers, so have a secret chat with each other.
Avatar
Werewolves Bot B BOT 28-May-21 04:38 PM
Clairvoyant Fox | Werewolf Investigative Basics Each day, the Clairvoyant Fox may investigate one player, and the results will be known to both them and the Wolfpack. Once per game, the Clairvoyant Fox may alternatively join the wolfpack as a regular wolf. Details Each day, the Clairvoyant Fox may either investigate one player or choose to join the wolfpack. When the Clairvoyant Fox investigates a player they see that player's role. The investigation is affected by weak disguises and obstructions. If the Clairvoyant Fox survives the day, the result of the investigation is announced to them as well as to the wolfpack at the start of the night. The wolfpack only sees the result and that it's from a Clairvoyant Fox - they don't know who was checked. The Clairvoyant Fox and wolfpack do not know each other's identities, as the Clairvoyant Fox is not a lycan, nor a member of the wolfpack. If the Clairvoyant Fox chooses to join the wolfpack, they may not investigate that day, and will lose their power as they will become a regular wolf. Joining the wolfpack is an immediate ability and investigating a player is an end effect.
Avatar
WɹW 28-May-21 04:40 PM
And that's Wolves investigative role... I've been told before that there is little point trying to work out which wolf most of the wolves are, all you need to know is that they're a wolf
However they have 4 regular wolves and then 1 white werewolf, so there should be issues within wolf chat I guess around trust etc
Then the main 3P... Solo.. are the 2 vampires
Avatar
Werewolves Bot B BOT 28-May-21 04:42 PM
Vampire | Solo Power - Underworld Team Basics The Vampire wins by secretly turning all the living players into undead. The Vampire demonizes players; if a demonized player is killed in the night, they will instead turn into an undead. Details Each night, the Vampire may demonize one player. On even numbered nights, the Vampire may demonize a second player. The target will not know about it by that time. Vampires cannot demonize themselves or other members of the underworld. When a demonized player is killed in the night, they will turn into an undead. The Vampire wins the game, along with the undead, if all players are either Vampire, dead or undead. If there are several Vampires, they work together. Demonizing a player is an immediate ability. If no members of the underworld channel remain, all demonized players are no longer demonized.
Avatar
WɹW 28-May-21 04:42 PM
Ahhh, I was wondering about that, they do work together, yukky
That's kinda cult-like from our games, changes your alignment if you would have died, nobody likes that
Avatar
ʎɹɹɐH ʎɹǝʇsɐuoW 28-May-21 04:45 PM
Some of their descriptions are really confusing.
Avatar
WɹW 28-May-21 04:46 PM
Yeah they can be... although so are ours until you get used to them
As far as I can figure that one, Vamp just plays like our cult (ish) but with more indirect recruitment via demonized people getting "killed"
With 2 of them they can demonise what, 6 people every 2 nights
I'm not entirely clear what effect being demonised might have on other results, like Ti ones, although I'm not sure with the roles in this game that really matters too much. I guess once undead someone shows as undead alignment wise but would have to check that (edited)
Avatar
ʎɹɹɐH ʎɹǝʇsɐuoW 28-May-21 04:52 PM
But demonised player need to be killed to turn into undead. I guess it doesn't apply on lynch.

Werewolves Bot B BOT 28-May-21 04:53 PM
Cupid | Unaligned Align - Townsfolk Base Alignment Basics The Cupid chooses one player to be their lover, and forms an inseparable team with that player. Details During Night 1, the Cupid must choose one player to become their lover. If the Cupid does not choose in time, they will fall in love with a random player. The lover is added to the Cupid’s secret channel. The Cupid and their lover form an inseparable team; they will die if the other player dies. Choosing a lover is an immediate ability. By default the Cupid wins with the townsfolk team. If the lover is on a different team, they will only win when both win conditions are fulfilled. For example, if the couple is Cupid and a wolf, everyone else must die. If the lover is townsfolk, they are townsfolk aligned and can win together with them. The Cupid’s love overrides any other mechanic that may cause a player to change teams for any reason; the Cupid is always on the same team as their lover. After choosing a lover, unless they are also unaligned, the Cupid is no longer unaligned. If the lover is unaligned, the couple can either win with townsfolk or with the lover's win condition. If the Cupid loses their role before selecting a lover, a random lover is chosen.

Can be messy
Avatar
WɹW 28-May-21 04:55 PM
Yeah, that one kinda wants to be lovers with another townie I'd think
Just for simplicity and "easiest" wincon
Only other thing is Chef, which we've had in previous games, that one has quite complicated meta I think with the waiters etc
Avatar
Werewolves Bot B BOT 28-May-21 04:56 PM
Chef | Unaligned Miscellaneous Basics The Chef can choose to make charmed food or poisoned food each night, and select a customer. The following day, the customer can decide to eat the food, and, depending on the food, gain invulnerability for the night or die. The Chef wins if they are alive at the end of the game, and at least one waiter remains. Details At the beginning of each day, the customer chosen by the Chef is given the opportunity to eat the food. They can choose yes or no, but they don’t know what food the Chef sent them. If they eat the poisoned food, they die at the end of the day. If they eat the charmed food, they are invulnerable from night attacks for the next night. After the night ends, the effect of the charmed food disappears. Making food and selecting a customer is an end-night ability. Eating the food is an end-day ability. Once a customer has eaten food, they can no longer be sent food. Each game has a certain amount of players that are “waiters” - one from the townsfolk team, one from the werewolf team, and one from each solo team. Waiters are not informed about this, nor does it affect their win condition or ability. The waiters are on different teams. The Chef wins, if at least one waiter, and the Chef itself are alive when the game ends. The Chef is able to win with any team, even if that teams win condition is to kill all others. The Chef dies once they are unable to win; this usually happens when the last waiter dies. The Chef may not select themself as customer.
Avatar
WɹW 28-May-21 04:56 PM
The first game when I was town, the chef basically let on to their wolf waiter who their town waiter was I think, so wolves killed them to force the chef to work with them instead

Angel | Unaligned Miscellaneous Basics The Angel wins when they are lynched. Details When the Angel wins, the Angel ascends and stops playing. The game continues. On all public votes the Angel starts out with -1 invisible votes. The Angel may select a player that dies when the Angel is lynched, if this player has voted for the Angel when the Angel is lynched, it is announced and they will also die. The Angel may change their target once per phase, with 1 emergency change to be used whenever the Angel wants to. The Angel cannot select themself. Targetting a player is an immediate effect. If they haven’t selected a valid target, a random player that has voted for the Angel is selected instead. If the Angel is lynched by unusual means (e.g. by the invisible Stalker votes or the Executioner selecting them) the player responsible for this will die with the Angel. If nobody except the Angel has voted for the Angel, nobody dies. If the Angel's target didn't vote for the Angel, but did put invisible votes on the Angel, they are considered a valid target.

Avatar
WɹW 28-May-21 05:01 PM
Yup
The solo roles are possibly the most complicated ones to know how to play overall as a newish person, I'd have been lost as demon without having had an experienced, and friendly, devil
As you know from your FPA experience lol
Avatar
ʎɹɹɐH ʎɹǝʇsɐuoW 28-May-21 05:04 PM
Yep That was bad. But somehow I didn't screwed myself way too much as I did as bartender. Fast forward lynched D9
Avatar
WɹW 28-May-21 05:04 PM
Yeah that was really unfortunate that someone meta'd your grammar
I was kinda pissed I didn't see it, although I didn't really look
Shame as bartender is a great role, given you can categorically prove yourself very easily
This game I'm not entirely sure how trusted town breaks out of their twosomes, Town Criers can prove themselves to 1 other person which is a start but connecting those should be interesting
Last game I had a town role that's only purpose was to get killed so kinda stayed quiet and out of the way deliberately, which actually worked as wolves killed me lol
But this one is much bigger for a start. My tactic in the previous one like this was just to cc people I'd interacted with before (so mostly from our games) and chat about random stuff, see what I thought of them, how natural they come over etc.
If you're town gotta take a chance sometime, but make it a calculated one, don't just tell Orc your role right away lol

Avatar
WɹW 28-May-21 05:10 PM

Prophet's probably avoiding me 🤣
Previously in the last big game some of our lot got slightly ignored by the regular players so imho it makes sense to start there and work outwards, although I might be a bit more daring this game with who I cc lol, we shall see 😄 (edited)

Avatar
WɹW 28-May-21 05:23 PM
Heh maybe. With the cc format it is easier to strike up proper conversations with people you're familiar with though
And I don't see the point in a lot of the cc's I see get made after the game which have like 2 lines in them
Generally I think over time you can get something of a read on people if you talk to them properly, its hard to be definitive ofc but I've tended to find my impressions have been in the right ballpark more often than not
Like when in that first game I talked to Olenna, she was nowhere near curious enough about me for her

Thief | Unaligned Align | Limited Basics Each night, the Thief choose one player to switch roles with. Details The Thief wins if they are still alive at the end of the game. When they switch with a player, they become that player's role, and the other player becomes the Thief. Selecting a player to switch with is an immediate effect, but switching roles is an end night action and happens after any other end night actions such as night kills. The Thief can switch with a dead player, if the player was alive when they selected them. When switching with another player, all their channels are switched. Effects such as being powdered are not swapped. If the Thief does not select a target, a random player is chosen. Each Thief may only select every player once. Careful though, I'd imagine wolves may well risk throwing up a pairing to you
If they don't and you don't get counters of those pairs, great, you've got 6 - well 5 if Harp dies now to form a trusted chat out if, hopefully there'll be a reg in there who'll help you

Harry, I've been explaining what I know of the meta around becoming the first mayor etc to Heron.
She needs to get into Town Square and insist on everyone cc'ing her to make their claims
Or, you could go in there and tell them to do that for her 'cause she nervous lol
The longer it is left, the more time non-town have to figure stuff out and alter their claims etc
Nobody has come out to counter her macho claim so there is little excuse people not claiming to her

I really strongly think Heron is good. If she is, there's games afoot elsewhere and they may have been told a lot more than they should

I trust her, with some reserves. But that's mutual

If she's bad she's completely done me, more than fair play to her despite me being off-kilter all game
I'm super, like embarassingly-if-wrong, confident she's not tho
And my result last night, if she is town, from what I understand, also throws a big issue at one of the two this game that apparently have claimed TC to you
So just be careful who you share what with is all, anything could be a trap and none of the scenarios are great
