End Game | Happily Ever After?
"It was approaching dusk when the @Mother of the Family called a meeting. One by one, the last dregs of Wolvespine's oldest family filed into the room.
"A long time ago," he began, "my grandfather - now sadly passed away - told me a story. This story was not about heroes - this story was about villains, and how far they'll go to win. I remember every word of this story, and I wish I could tell it to all of you now. I wish you could know what drove me to this, but I can't. All I can say is that, long ago, before Wolvespine was any more than this house, its settlers did our family a great wrong. And tonight, I am going to right this wrong, once and for all."
He smiled as he stood up, and it was a sharp, sharp smile. Other family members also rose, and smiled, and their smiles were almost as sharp as their teeth, more fitting of wolves than men.
And people began to scream."
The boy's grandfather fixed the boy with a long look. "I will not tell you what happened that night. Know that it was a night of unparalleled chaos and horror, the likes of which I hope never to see again. That day, the villains won, and none except them lived to tell the story of the final days of Wolvespine."
"But Grandfather, you lived to tell me this!"
Before the grandfather could reply, the boy's mother arrived, and any response was forgotten in the commotion. But as the boy left, he turned to wave goodbye - and saw his grandfather smiling, not at him, but at the rising moon.
