claiming here is kind of necessary - it makes you look suspicious if you don't claim, because the main aim is rooting out people who's claims don't match up/don't fit with the narrative. additionally, conversations in which claims are given can often give people an insight into the alignment of others

for example, if I had this conversation with someone else it might look pretty suspicious, because asking why you'd want to claim is a typical tactic for new scums to use. however, your spiel in town square about how you didn't know how to make ccs makes it look like you're not currently working with a team - although you could just have a very advanced team mate
