Day 4 | I Had To Add Seven People To Kill Queue
Today, the first few birds awoke to an awful metallic smell permeating the air. The grass was crushed and spattered with dark red-brown stains, as if a body – or multiple – had been dragged somewhere else across it. Following the trail, the more observant birds noticed that on either side of it, odd lumps were scattered, gleaming in the sunlight. @Eagle reached out to grab one and found it oddly squishy to the touch.
Eventually, the group made it to the end of the trail, and it became obvious what the lumps were. In the centre of a clearing was a pile of bodies. Each had had its chest savaged, and little flakes of skin stuck to the edges of the wounds, glued there by a mass of dried blood and other fluids. Inside there were only empty cavities where the hearts and lungs should have been, as if they had been ripped out and tossed away, and the bones were cracked where marrow had been sucked out. Around the crack were odd scratches, like the marks of a bird’s beak where it had pecked at the wood of a tree.
Reluctantly, the remainers tried to identify the bodies, though their faces had been mauled and the eyes pecked out too. There were seven bodies, and seven people missing from their group; @Finch , @Flamingo , @Falcon , @Dove , @Macaw , @Vulture , and @Cockatoo .
“We need someone to protect us,” muttered the group. “A @Guardian Blorb.”
And the clean-up began.
@Bird
(Meuh and Savannah were huntress kills, killed by Cdw and Dragon)
