There needs to be a role called Spartan and whenever a wolf tries to eat them they respond "this is (name of town)" and kicks them into a really deep hole that is around for no reason and can only be killed by the rest of the innocents shooting him with arrows.(edited)

I know it's not gonna happen this game, but I remember someone mentioning adding Vampires... I'm trying to think of a way to implement that role in a future game, but the hard part is coming up with a way that also keeps the game balanced. Adding that group in would mean 2 kills each night, so it would severely hinder the innocent team. Would need a larger player base to balance it out. If anyone else has any thoughts on it, I'd love to hear about them!

Their goal would be to kill all werewolves and convert all innocents. They cannot convert werewolves. So they have the choice to kill or convert and if it's a werewolf and they chose convert then nothing happens

Not really. They can either kill another player, or convert a human as they cannot turn werewolves. So if they chose to convert someone and they are a werewolf nothing happens.

It's one choice or the other

Or you could have it to where if they try to convert a werewolf then one of them dies.

Or perhaps we start with only one vampire. Each night the vampire chooses someone and that player becomes a vampire in addition to their current role, but they are not told who the original vampire is. If all players become vampires then the original vampire wins.

What you could also do, is that the game just works normally, but that there are also three innocents who start with an artifact.

That seems way too complicated for now

A garlic ring, a cross and a sacred glass.

You can give these artifacts away each night. You can decide whom you will give it to, but the other will not know who gave it to them.

If a vampire receives one of these items, they die. If one player has all three items, all vampires die.

What would happen to the artifact once the vampire is killed? Would it vanish or return to the previous owner to be given to someone else the following night

I think it would get returned.

So instead of saying you're "passing it over", you're using it to test whether someone is a vampire or not.

And if they aren't you lose the artifact.

I do see one problem though. 🤔

Vampire with conversions is too hard on innocents....
Perhaps leave to choice of convert/kill to the one being killed (or even better - to chance), and also werewolves can't be killed by vampires - if vampire chooses to kill a werewolf, nothing happens.

Well my take on it was adding a 3rd group to the mix, not another role. So instead of team A vs B, it's A vs BC, B vs AC, and C vs AB, if that makes any sense. Doesn't have to be vampires, it can be whatever you want for the storyline. Regardless, the issue with adding the 3rd group is doing it in a way that keeps all 3 balanced. If this group is similar to the werewolves in that they know all members of their group, then the player base would need to be much larger to facilitate the innocents lack of knowledge

Does the cult seem to vulnerable to the outside, or is the outside too vulnerable to the others.

Remember, the cult are on the same team as the innocents. They're basically good werewolves.

It gives another random death at night. Makes the wolves that much more vulnerable if they give themselves away, but also has the same odds of hanging an innocent if the wolves are crafty enough

If the cult strikes first, then the werewolves arrive. They don't care whether that person is alive, dead or faking to be dead, they just strike and eat the victim.

This will also keep doubt in the cult and the werewolves; did the ither party choose not to kill anyone, or did they choose the same person? And if it's the latter, mustn't one of the teams have chosen the wrong person?(edited)

I think.. I think it's better as is. The number of roles we have is easily enough for ~50 people. If we somehow get more we can start looking at new roles.

Agreed, these roles we are discussing are not meant to be in smaller groups. I just think it's fun to brainstorm new ideas. Even in larger groups, it's up to the game master so still no guarantee they will be used

But I'm saving all the roles I've seen along with roles that we have discussed in a word document. Might come in handy in the future ;)
